Quade Smith came out of Brandon, Mississippi as a defense-first outfielder, went the junior college route at Hinds, and played his way onto a Division I roster at Nicholls State — where he wore #1 in the outfield against Southland and SEC competition.
Nobody handed him a scholarship out of high school. He got there by being the fastest, cleanest defender on the field, and that's the same order he builds athletes in now: move better, then play faster, then hit.

First-Team All-District and team Defensive MVP. The defense came first; the bat caught up later.

Two years. Helped Hinds reach the 2014 NJCAA national title game and earned All-Tournament Team honors at the JUCO World Series. First Team All-State, MACJC Player of the Week, and a two-time Iron Eagle Award winner.
- Division INicholls State University — Colonels
Signed on a baseball scholarship and wore #1 in the outfield. Senior year: 54 games, 42 starts, 38 hits, 23 runs, a perfect 4-for-4 on the bases and a .965 fielding percentage — against Southland competition and an SEC schedule that included Alabama on SEC Network.
